This Asus VivoBook is the lightest of my suggestions in this price range at 3.7 lbs. and would make an excellent choice for the college student or light gaming on the go. Apparently, there were a few issues with this model at release, but those have been sorted out at his point making this a good option for those looking for something lightweight without sacrificing computing power.
